Terms and conditions
Last updated 29 September 2026 · version 1.6
These terms apply when you book or attend SS Aurora — Spacetime Voyage, and when you use ss-aurora.no or the show app at app.ss-aurora.no. Please read them before you book: by booking, you accept them.
1. Who we are
SS Aurora is hosted and organised by About Contrasts AS, organisation number 933576345, Tordenskiolds gate 12, 0160 Oslo, Norway (“About Contrasts”, “SS Aurora”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at info@ss-aurora.no.
SS Aurora is an event held in Oslo, Norway. Unless we tell you otherwise, it takes place at About Contrasts, Tordenskiolds gate 12, 0160 Oslo.
2. What you book
A seat at an evening for adults: a cocktail omakase with food pairing (five cocktails or alcohol-free alternatives, and three paired dishes), combined with a multisensory, interactive story told with screens, light, sound, aromas and your own phone. We set the menu, the programme and the running time in advance. The film, images and descriptions on our website illustrate the concept; they are not an exact promise of what you will see, hear or taste.
3. Booking and price
- You book seats for a specific evening on ss-aurora.no. Nothing is charged on the website, and nothing is paid in advance.
- The price is 1 499 NOK per person, including VAT (MVA).
- Your booking is confirmed as soon as you make it. We send you a confirmation email with your booking number.
- You pay the price at About Contrasts, where the evening takes place, on the night.
- Discount codes. A valid discount code lowers the price by the percentage shown on the booking page before you book, and the amount you pay on the night is the one shown there; if a code covers the whole price, there is nothing to pay. One code per booking. A code cannot be added to a booking already made, has no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and we may withdraw a code or stop it being used at any time before you book.
- You give a mobile number when you book, so we can reach you about your evening. A number from outside Norway needs its country code.
- You must give correct contact details and tell us about allergies and dietary needs for every guest in your booking. If you book for others, you are responsible for passing these terms on to them.
- We may limit how many bookings one person can make.
- A booking made under an earlier version of these terms, with a deposit, keeps the terms it was made under (section 18).
4. No right of withdrawal
Under the Norwegian Cancellation Act (angrerettloven), there is no 14-day right of withdrawal for leisure and catering services booked for a specific date. The cancellation rules in section 5 apply instead.
5. Cancellation and changes
- If you cancel up to 48 hours before the evening starts, it is free of charge. You can cancel with the cancel button in your emails or on your booking page.
- If you have to cancel later, or cannot come, please tell us as soon as you can, so someone else can have the seat. There is no fee.
- Passing your seat on: you may give your seat to someone else if you tell us before the evening and give us their allergy and dietary information. They must accept these terms.
- Light, sound and aromas: if the effects described in section 8 mean you cannot join us, tell us before the evening and we cancel your booking free of charge.
- If we cancel an evening or your booking, for any reason, you pay nothing. We may cancel a booking without giving a reason.
- Changes: we may make reasonable changes to the menu, the programme, the running time and the seating. If we have to move the date, or make a change that substantially alters the evening, you may choose another evening or cancel free of charge.
- Cancelling free of charge is full compensation for a cancellation or change. We do not cover other costs, such as travel, accommodation or time off work, except where Norwegian law requires it.
6. Age, alcohol and conduct
- The evening is for guests aged 20 and over. Nobody under 20 can attend, including with an adult. We may ask for valid photo ID at the door, and a guest who cannot show they are 20 or older may be refused entry without a refund.
- Alcohol is served in line with the Norwegian Alcohol Act. Alcohol-free alternatives are always available.
- We may refuse to serve alcohol, refuse entry or ask a guest to leave, without a refund, if they are visibly intoxicated, underage, put anyone at risk, harass anyone, damage property or disrupt the evening.
- Please follow the crew’s instructions at all times, and especially in an emergency.
7. Allergies and dietary needs
The menu is prepared in advance, so tell us about allergies, intolerances and dietary needs when you book. We take reasonable care, but our kitchen and bar handle common allergens, and we cannot guarantee that any dish or drink is completely free of traces. If you have a severe allergy, contact us before you book. We are not responsible for reactions to anything you did not tell us about.
8. Light, sound, aromas and your health
The evening uses flashing and changing lights, periods of darkness, loud music and sound effects, strong aromas and vivid moving images. It may not be suitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy or other sensitivity to light, sound or smell, for people with heart conditions, or during pregnancy. If you are unsure, ask your doctor and contact us before the evening. You take part at your own discretion and are responsible for your own wellbeing: tell a crew member at once if you feel unwell.
9. The story, the game and your phone
- It is fiction. The ship, the voyage through time, the future years and events, the science and the characters are invented. Nothing in the story is a prediction, a statement of fact or advice of any kind.
- Roles and votes are a game. During the evening guests may secretly be given the role of “saboteur”, may be suspected and may be voted out. These roles, suspicions and votes are part of a game only and say nothing about anyone’s real character or behaviour. Taking part is voluntary: you can simply enjoy the dinner.
- Your phone. The interactive parts run in a web app on your own smartphone, using your mobile data or the venue’s wifi. We do not guarantee that the app, the screens or any effect will always work, and a technical fault does not entitle you to a refund when the evening otherwise goes ahead.
- Messages. If you write a message in the app, keep it friendly and lawful, and do not write anything about other people that you would not want read aloud. We may remove any message.
10. Photos and recording
- A photographer may take pictures during the evening, and the captain may take a group photograph. At check-in we ask whether you agree to be photographed; if you say no, we leave you out of the pictures. We will not publish a picture in which you can be recognised without your consent. See our privacy policy.
- You are welcome to take personal photos of your food and drinks. Please do not film or record the show, the screens or the soundtrack, and do not share images of other guests without their consent.
11. AI-generated content
The film, images and characters on ss-aurora.no, in our emails and marketing, and some of the visuals shown during the evening are created or edited with artificial intelligence. They are artistic illustrations, not recordings of real events, and the people shown may be AI-generated depictions. We label this content as AI-generated, in line with the transparency rules for artificial intelligence, including the EU Artificial Intelligence Act.
12. Your belongings
Please look after your belongings. We are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items or clothing unless we caused the loss through negligence.
13. Access needs
If you have access needs, please contact us before you book, so we can tell you honestly what the venue and the evening can offer.
14. Our website and content
- ss-aurora.no and the show app are provided as they are. We work to keep them available and correct, but we cannot promise they will always be free of errors or interruptions. We are not responsible for the content of other websites we link to.
- The texts, film, images, story, characters, game and design belong to us or to those who license them to us. You may not copy or use them commercially without our written permission.
15. Our liability
- To the extent Norwegian law allows, our total liability to you in connection with a booking is limited to the price of that booking, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
- We are not liable for failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as illness in the crew, power or network failure, extreme weather, strikes, fire, orders from public authorities or epidemics. If an evening cannot go ahead for such a reason, we offer you another evening, or you cancel free of charge.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for gross negligence or intent, or any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited under Norwegian law.
16. Complaints
If something was not as it should be, tell a crew member on the evening, or write to us at info@ss-aurora.no within a reasonable time, and we will try to put it right. If we cannot agree, you can ask the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet) for guidance and mediation.
17. Governing law and disputes
These terms and every booking are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes are settled by the Norwegian courts, with Oslo District Court (Oslo tingrett) as the agreed venue, after conciliation proceedings (forliksrådet) where the law requires them. If you are a consumer, this does not take away any right you have under mandatory law, including any right to bring a case where you live.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force when you book applies to your booking. See also our privacy policy and cookie policy.
